Brooke Stacey played four years at the University of Maine and recorded double-digit points every season. She finished her NCAA DI career with 87 points including 41 goals and 46 assists. “My strengths I bring to the team are hard work, smart d-zone, scoring goals, and making smart plays,” said Brooke.

“I am part of the Mohawk tribe of the Iroquois located in Kahnawa:ke, Quebec,” said Brooke. “My moms name is Tina McComber and my dad is Sean Stacey who are both Mohawk.”

“Growing up on the reservation I always thought of myself as someone who younger generations can look up to. Although there has been some adversity with moving away from home at such a young age and leaving my family, I knew I had to stick to my path for the generations behind me,” said Brooke.

“I hope to continue hockey, for at least another year after this year one. My thoughts on a future career is gearing towards criminal investigation and finding a way to work in an area surrounding missing and murdered indigenous women because this is such a prominent issues in the country,” said Brooke.

Brooke has international experience including earning team medals. “I played with Team Canada’s U18 women’s ice hockey team in 2014 and won gold in Budapest, Hungary,” said Brooke. “I also represented Team Canada’s U22 team in the 2016-17 and 2017-18 at 4 Nations in Germany. I played four years of D1 hockey on a full athletic scholarship at the University of Maine and I was named assistant captain my senior year. Right now I am playing hockey in the NWHL (National Women’s Hockey League) for the Buffalo Beauts. This past week I was named co-player of the week.”
