CHICKASHA, Okla. – The University of Science and Arts of Oklahoma (5-5, 1-1 SAC) suffered a gut-wrenching 92-93 loss at Randall University (4-8).
The Saints got off to a good start and took a 51-46 lead into halftime.
Following the break, the Saints continued to play well and led by double digits. The Drovers finally found a groove and eventually took an 82-81 lead with less than five minutes remaining in the second half. The Saints took an 86-84 lead after hitting a couple free-throws with 3:39 remaining, but Stephon Hall (SO/Oklahoma City, OK) was able to give the Drovers the lead at 87-86 by converting the and-one. Randall sunk a free-throw to tie the game at 87-87, but Hall would once again give USAO the lead at 89-87 with less than 0:30 to go. Hall extended the lead to 91-87 by knocking down a pair of free-throws. However, the Saints bounced back and were able to knock down a late three, dropping the Drovers for good.
Stephon Hall (Mvskoke Creek) had a huge game, despite the loss, dropping 32 points, two rebounds, and three assists. Trenton Sandifer (JR/Dallas, TX) had a solid return, scoring 18 points to go with four rebounds. Colen Gaynor (JR/Berlin, MD), Tre’veon Ellis (SO/Oklahoma City, OK), and Moses Byekwaso (JR/London, England) each concluded with 11 points. Gaynor added nine rebounds and two assists, while Ellis also contributed six rebounds and a trio of assists. Byekwaso grabbed four rebounds and dished out four assists. Cameron Hines (JR/Ft. Cobb, OK) scored five points, five rebounds, and seven assists.
The Drovers will be back in action on Monday, December 9 when they head to Muskogee for a non-conference match-up with Bacone College at 8:00 PM.
