USC’s Alissa Pili (Inupiat) just keeps turning heads — and defenders — as she powers her way through her first season at Troy. Now with 10 consecutive double-digit games, Pili has picked up her third honor as the Pac-12 Freshman of the Week. She’s the first Trojan to do so thanks to another explosive weekend of work in conference play.
With 14.8 points per game and 8.0 rebounds per game, Pili leads all Pac-12 freshmen this season. Her numbers have her eighth overall in the conference in scoring and fourth in rebounding, and she leads the Trojans with 19 double-digit games and nine double-doubles so far.
This past week, Pili supercharged the Trojans to a 72-66 upset win over No. 11 Oregon State. She led USC with 26 points and 13 rebounds for her ninth double-double while also nabbing three steals. Two days later against No. 3 Oregon, Pili punched up 14 points and had three more steals.
The three-time Pac-12 Freshman of the Week and her fellow Trojans are off to Washington this week looking for USC’s first Pac-12 road sweep of the season. The Trojans will visit the Huskies first in a 7 p.m. clash on Friday (Feb. 21) in Seattle before heading to Pullman to take on the Cougars at 11:30 a.m. on Sunday (Feb. 23).
