COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo.— Six different Colorado Mesa University men scored team points while six others advanced to the finals in the shortest events of indoor track and field to lead the Mavericks’ efforts on day one of the Colorado Running Company UCCS Open on Friday here at the Mountain Lion Fieldhouse.
The Maverick men also set four new marks on their program’s all-time top 10 performer charts and stand in fourth place of the team standings with 27 points through six scored events.
Three of those new top-10 marks came in the 5,000 meters and two were set by freshman. Triston Charles (Navajo) now ranks second in CMU history after he finished fourth in 15 minutes, 31.73 seconds. Fellow freshman Ethan Abbs also moved up two spots to fifth in program history as he finished sixth in 15:34.17. Ian Cropp finished 11th in 16:03.07 and now ranks tenth in Maverick history.
