Seanna Boltz (Oglala Lakota) Scores 21 Points as Cowley College Wins 84-71 at Cloud County CC

The Cowley College women’s basketball team used a 17-1 third quarter run to bust open a close game at Cloud County as the Lady Tigers went on to win 84-71 Saturday in Concordia, KS.

The victory keeps Cowley (10-6) in fourth place in the Jayhawk East with a conference record of 8-6. Cloud County falls to 7-7 overall and 6-7 in the conference.

Holding onto a slim, 46-41 lead, a three-pointer by freshman Ryley Beard capped the big, third-quarter run and gave Cowley a 63-42 lead.

The Lady Tigers led 70-54 entering the final quarter of play and did not allow Cloud County to cut its deficit to single digits in the final 10 minutes of play.

“We made some timely shots down the stretch,” Cowley head coach Todd Clark said.

Cowley went 11-of-24 from three-point range, while Cloud made only three shots from behind the arc.

The Lady Tigers were led by Seanna Boltz (Oglala Lakota) going 5-of-10 from three-point range and Beard going 4-of-6 from beyond the arc.

“We shot the ball really well,” Clark said.

Cloud’s Le’Yanna McGinnis, a 6’1 sophomore, led all scorers with 30 points and 12 rebounds. However, the T-Birds were out-scored 33-9 from three-point range.

The Lady Tigers will now prepare to play at Independence Wednesday at 5 p.m. The Lady Pirates are 12-4 overall and third in the Jayhawk East with a conference mark of 9-4.
