Springfield, Ore. – Cal State Fullerton men’s and women’s cross country competed in the Dellinger Invite on Thursday night in Springfield, Ore. The races were held at Pine Ridge Golf Club and the Fullerton men took 10th place while the women finished in 13th place in their respective team competitions.
Fullerton was 10th with a score of 319 in the men’s 8K. Oregon won with a score of 57, Gonzaga was second (68) and Air Force (89) finished in third place. In the women’s 6K race, the Titans had a score of 318 to take 10th place. Utah won with a score of 38 while Colorado State was second (93) and Arkansas (112) was third.
On the men’s side, Sam Ayala led the way for Fullerton with a time of 23:43.7 in the 8K race to take 28th place overall. Alexis Garcia’s time of 24:09.7 was good for 46th place overall. Jacob Smith (107th, 25:10.0), Andrew Castellon (111th, 25:19.9) and Tony Chavez (112th, 25:23.1) were the team’s additional three scorers.
For the women, Trinity Ruelas‘ time of 20:34.6 was good for 25th overall. McKaylie Caesar (65th, 21:13.2), Dana McGrath (21:20.8), Eva Rethmeier (84th, 21:27.0) and Mia Bergman (95th, 21:39.5) scored for the Titans as well.
The Titans are scheduled to send a group of student-athletes to compete at the Masters University Invite on Saturday morning. The next competition for the entire program is set for Oct. 16 with the Highlander Classic.
