TERRA HAUTE, IN – The Chicago State women’s basketball team faced off against the Indiana State Sycamores and suffered a 68-43 loss.
Ahlea Myers, Jacia Cunningham, and Josie Hill all finished with nine points each, while Taylor Norris added on six of her own.
First Quarter – Indiana State 14, Chicago State 10
- The Sycamores opened up the scoring with a 5-0 run
- However, Hill then hit a jumper to cut the run at 2-5
- Indiana State continued their scoring as the Cougars trailed close behind 7-9 after a layup from Norris
- Unfortunately, the Cougars did not manage to tie the game as the Sycamores led at the end of the first with a 14-10 score
Second Quarter – Indiana State 31, Chicago State 15
- Indiana State once again opened up the scoring, this time with a 4-0 run to increase their lead to 18-10
- Fortunately, the Cougars managed to end the rally with a beautiful trey from Ahlea Myers followed by a pull-up jumper by Hill to now trail by three at 15-18
- Nonetheless, Chicago State then went on a six minute scoring drought as the Sycamores executed a 13-0 run to lead comfortably at the half with a score of 31-15
Third Quarter – Indiana State 52, Chicago State 30
- The Sycamores began with a trey to increase their lead to 33-15
- Indiana State then continued their run as they reached a score of 39-15 until the Cougars finally cut their run with yet another trey from Myers to reach a score of 18-39
- However, the Cougars were unable to gain any momentum as the Sycamores continued to match the scoring
- This led to Indiana State retaining their lead comfortably with a third quarter score of 52-30
Fourth Quarter – Indiana State 68, Chicago State 43
- The Cougars opened up the scoring with another jumper from Myers to add two and reach a score of 32-52
- Unfortunately, the Sycamore answered back with 6-0 rally to increase their lead to 58-32
- Chicago State then managed to cut the run with a tough driving layup from Norris at 34-58
- Much like throughout the game, the Sycamores and Cougars continued scoring back-and-forth which ultimately led to Indiana State taking the win comfortably at 68-43
