Angel City FC Midfielder Madison Hammond (Navajo/San Felipe) Inks New Contract

Angel City FC announced that midfielder Madison Hammond has re-signed with the club through 2025. Hammond was originally acquired via a trade with OL Reign ahead of the club’s inaugural 2022 season.

“Last season we proved that we can build a winning culture and team. I am excited to rejoin ACFC to continue pushing us towards our ultimate goal: bringing a championship to the city,” said Hammond. “I grew so much as a player, teammate, and person last year and the support of LA, our team, and our fans were a huge part of that. Now it’s time to build on that momentum and grow into a leader both on the field and in the community. I can’t wait to get back to work.”

“Madison has grown so much during her time at Angel City, particularly last season in her new role as a midfielder,” said Angela Hucles Mangano. “She is such an important piece of this team so we are excited that she is staying at Angel City. Her experience in this league, dedication to this club and her teammates, and hard work on and off the field is an asset. We look forward to all she brings as we head into our third season.” Hammond has appeared in 40 matches total in all competitions, earning her first two goals in the 2023 season while playing in a new role as a midfielder. This past season, she completed 567 total passes with an 83% success rate in 1,654 total minutes on the pitch, contributing to the club’s first-ever playoff appearance. Prior to joining the club, Hammond spent two seasons with OL Reign, where she made her NWSL debut in 2020, appearing in 20 total matches.

Hammond, who is Navajo, San Felipe, and African American, is the first and only Native American woman to play in the NWSL. A four-year collegiate starter at Wake Forest University, Hammond served as the team captain, earning Second Team All-ACC during her senior year, and All-ACC Academic Team all four years.
