HILLSBORO, Ore. – For the first time this season Whitworth swept the Northwest Conference women’s and men’s basketball weekly awards.
Zalissa Sanfo became the Pirates’ first NWC women’s student-athlete of the week, and Sullivan Menard claimed the men’s award.
Sanfo, a first-year center from Inchelium, Washington, scored 33 points (16.5 ppg) and grabbed 35 rebounds (18.5 rpg) in Whitworth’s wins over Linfield and George Fox. She made 11-27 field goal attempts (41%) and 10-13 free throws (77%). Her 21 rebounds vs. George Fox broke her own school record of 20, which she had already done twice this season. She added nine blocked shots, including six vs. Linfield.
