DURANGO, Colo. – Tru Allen, the first signee to the Fort Lewis College men’s basketball team under first-year head coach Jordan Mast, has earned an exclusive invitation to compete in the Drew League’s first-ever Drew 24 Showcase.
For the first time, the Drew League will host the Drew 24 Showcase featuring some of the best players across NCAA Division II at 1:30 p.m. Pacific Standard Time on Saturday, July 13, at King Drew Magnet High School in Los Angeles, California.
Allen, a fifth-year transfer from Northwest Nazarene University in the Great Northwest Athletic Conference, is coming off of a Second-Team All-GNAC season in which he averaged a team-leading 13.1 points, 3.9 rebounds, and 2.9 assists per game while also finishing fifth in the nation with 2.64 steals per game. He was also named the GNAC Freshmen of the Year back in 2021-22.
The Drew League was established in 1973 by Alvin Wills and featured six teams. Wills later turned his directing duties over to Dino Smiley in 1985 and the league has since grown into a 28-team invitation-only league that features some of South California’s toughest competition, local street legends, and a plethora of collegiate and NBA stars.
Wills founded the league intending to help young people form meaningful relationships on the court that would spill over into the neighborhood, as well as build an institution that would bring top local high school, college, and professional players back to the community.
