by Student-athletes from three different member institutions have been selected for Continental Athletic Conference’s first Volleyball Player of the Week awards after the first week of play for the 2024 season.
Spartanburg Methodist College (South Carolina) junior Makinnley Smart is the Attack of the Week, while Florida College senior Madison Lee is the Setter of the Week and Haskell Indian Nations University (Kansas) senior Mikeya Sheppard is the Defender of the Week.
Sheppard totaled 58 digs to average 4.14 digs per set across four matches in the first month of the season. The Tuba City, Arizona, native posted 24 digs in a 3-2 setback to Saint Mary-of-the-Woods College (Indiana) last Saturday. Sheppard also was a threat offensively, tallying 31 kills in the team’s first four matches of the season.
