NORFOLK, Neb. – The No. 25 Northeast Community College women’s basketball team welcomed Iowa Central Community College to the Cox Activities Center in Norfolk Wednesday night for an ICCAC clash. The Hawks topped the Tritons by a final score of 77-48 for their fifth-straight victory.
Northeast (14-3, 6-2 ICCAC) found themselves ranked in the NJCAA DII Women’s Basketball poll for the first time this season and put a performance on the floor worthy of the ranking. The Hawks fell behind early in the first quarter before pulling away in the second quarter as they forced Iowa Central into 29 turnovers throughout the night. Aaliyah Jones (Rapid City, S.D.) scored 27 points while Mia Wiederin (Norfolk, Neb.) put in 19 as Northeast will now get ready for a showdown against No. 1 Kirkwood Community College Saturday on the road.
