CLEVELAND, Ohio – The Cleveland State women’s basketball team opened up a three-game homestand Wednesday, dropping a 59-50 contest against Green Bay. With the loss, the Vikings are now 21-7 overall and 12-5 in #HLWBB play.

The Game
After trailing by six at the halftime break at 30-24, the Vikings used a 16-9 advantage during the third quarter to gain a slight one-point lead heading into the final 10 minutes of play.
Cleveland State opened the third quarter with an 8-2 run, knotting the contest at 32-32 on a Macey Fegan layup that came after a Mickayla Perdue steal at the 4:54 mark of the frame. A pair of Jordana Reisma free throws less than a minute later gave the edge to the Vikings at 34-32, before Green Bay tied the contest once again on their next possession.
The two teams then traded baskets over the final minutes of the quarter, with a pair of Perdue free throws giving the Vikings a 40-39 edge heading into the fourth quarter.
The Phoenix responded by opening the fourth quarter with nine straight points, gaining a 49-40 lead before a pair of Grace Ellis free throws finally put the Vikings on the board, bringing the score to 49-42 midway through the frame.
A Reisma and-one play a few possessions later closed the gap to 51-45 before Green Bay responded with back-to-back baskets that put the Phoenix up by 10 points at 55-45. The Phoenix then controlled play throughout the remainder of the contest, coming away with a 59-50 victory.
