Toreros Too Much for Waves; Lauren Schad (Cheyenne River Sioux) Has 4 Kills for USD

SAN DIEGO, Calif. – The University of San Diego women’s volleyball team cruised to a 3-0 win over Pepperdine University Thursday evening in a West Coast Conference match at the Jenny Craig Pavilion.

With the 25-16, 25-19, 25-22 win, the Toreros improve to 14-7 overall, move to 7-2 in the WCC and have now won five consecutive matches. With the loss, the Waves fall to 7-13 overall, move to 2-7 in the WCC and have now lost four consecutive matches.

Lauren Schad (Cheyenne River Sioux)  had 4 kills for the Toreros.

In the third and final frame, Pepperdine managed to stand toe-to-toe with the Toreros for a majority of the match. Both teams had the turn with the lead early on, and neither team had a lead bigger than four. Then with the score knotted at 15-all, a Pepperdine attack error sparked a 7-1 USD run giving San Diego complete control of the momentum with a 21-14 lead. USD then cruised its way to a 25-22 win to complete the sweep over Pepperdine.

The Toreros will return to action on Saturday, as they host Loyola Marymount University in a 12 p.m. match at the Jenny Craig Pavilion.
