Chenise Peone (Colville Tribes) posts a game-high 19 point as Hawaii-Pacific Rolls Over Chaminade

HONOLULU, HI (December 17, 2014) – The Hawai’i Pacific Women’s Basketball Team (8-1, 4-0) stayed red hot in absolutely drubbing Chaminade University (0-7, 0-3) 92-47 on Wednesday night in eastern Honolulu.

Chaminade led for the first 40 seconds of the game, it was all downhill from there for the home team. Five minutes into the game HPU’s lead had already reached 11 points on a layup by Breanna Mackenzie. From there the rout was on, HPU led by as many as 27 in the first half but went to the break with a 49-23 lead.

The second half was more of the same; Chaminade had no answers for HPU on this night.

The HPU offense was firing on all cylinders, the Sharks shot 53.5% (38-71) and 50% (6-12) from three-point range. The defense was also stingy forcing 17 turnovers and limiting the home team to 16-65 shooting (24.6%).

All 11 healthy Sharks saw action, a minimum of eight minutes. Only one starter played more than 25 minutes.

Chenise Peone (Colville Tribes)posted a game-high 19 points to go with six rebounds and four assists. Morganne Comstock notched another double-double with 16 points and 15 rebounds; she also passed out five assists. MacKenzie and Kylie Huerta each scored 11 points as Veanne Navarro and Taylor Blake both had nine. Huerta led all competitors with six dimes.

The Sharks now head north to play third-ranked Alaska Anchorage on Sunday.
