STILLWATER, Okla. — Jawun Evans scored 25 points, along with five steals, four assists and four rebounds to lead Oklahoma State to a 101-85 victory over Rogers State Wednesday night.
Averaging 98.5 points per game entering the contest, ranking second in the nation, Oklahoma State (6-1) surpassed the 100-point mark for the fourth time this season and went over 95 for the sixth.
Evans has scored at least 13 points in every game this season, and entered tonight scoring a Big 12-high 24.7 points per game. On the other end, he posted five first-half steals against the Hillcats, which is tied for the third most ever by a Cowboy in a single half. Brian Montanati (6 vs Alcorn State, 1999) and Brooks Thompson (6 vs SMU, 1993) hold the school record.
A total of seven Oklahoma State players scored at least 10 points, including Jeffrey Carroll, who had 11 points and a game-high nine rebounds. Lindy Waters, III (Kiowa/Cherokee) had 10 points on the evening.
Jeylyn Sharpe scored 18 points and added eight rebounds to lead Rogers State (4-3).
When Travis Hester swished a 3-pointer with 7:43 remaining, the Hillcats pulled to within 77-73, but Oklahoma State went on a 17-3 run over the next 4:13 to put the game away.
The Cowboys forced Rogers State into committing 22 turnovers on the night. OSU entered the night ranked third in the country in turnovers forced at 20.5 per contest. Every OSU opponent this season has coughed up at least 15 turnovers.
OSU wore special turquoise Nike N7 uniforms to pay tribute to the Native American heritage of the state of Oklahoma. Turquoise represents harmony, fellowship and friendship in the Native American culture.
