by Alvina Begay (Navajo) posted a personal best running time and automatically qualified for the U.S. Olympic trials in the 
10,000 meter run this past weekend at the Payton Jordan Cardinal Invitational. Finishing the race with a time of 32:34.76., Begay’s time was 11 seconds below the minimal standard for the Automatic “A” sectional of the United States Olympic qualifying standards. Her time puts her in a field of 24 runners that will compete this summer on June 22nd at 7:20 PM PST at Hayward Field at the University of Oregon in Eugene, Oregon. Begay was also the winner of her heat at the Cardinal Invitational.
