(Kansas City, MO) – The National Association of Intercollegiate Athletics (NAIA) announced Monday that 286 Division II women’s basketball student-athletes have been named 2016-17 Daktronics-NAIA Scholar-Athletes. Four senior HaskellĀ student-athletes, – Sylvana Levier-Jessepe (SR/Prairie Band Potawatomi), Brandi Buffalo (SR/Cree), Tinaya Murphy (SR/Navajo) and Cerissa Honena-Reyes (SR/Shoshone-Bannock) all earned the honor.
In order to be nominated, a student-athlete must maintain a minimum grade point average of 3.5 on a 4.0 scale and must have achieved a junior academic status to qualify for this honor.
The Haskell Women’s Basketball finished out the season at 13-16 and had played the 15th toughest schedule in nation. This senior class leave’s Haskell as the winningest senior class in NAIA school history with 70 wins in their four years on campus. They also were A.i.i. Conference champions last year and were selected to play in the NAIA National Tournament as well during their campaign.
