Alissa Pili (Inupiaq/Samoan) Leads Utah with 18 Points who fall to Arizona in PAC 12 Play

TUCSON, Ariz.  – The No. 15 Utah Utes fell to Arizona Sunday afternoon in overtime 71-70. 

Utah and Arizona went scoreless in the final two minutes of regulation forcing the game into overtime with a 65-65 score. The Wildcats were able to narrowly edge past the Utes to claim the win. Utah had four Utes score in double figures and were led by Alissa Pili who had 18 points. Utah is now 11-4 overall on the season and 1-2 in Pac-12 play. 

GAME SUMMARY 
Utah started the game slow in offensive efforts as they trailed 8-2 early on. Dasia Young broke the Arizona defense for a driving layup to spark a 13-0 run for the Utes to propel them to a 21-14 lead at the end of the first. 

Arizona tied it back up early in the second quarter and pulled ahead for a 29-24 lead over the Utes. Kennady McQueen scored a layup on a fast break and followed that up by burying a triple to tie the game 29-29 with four minutes to go in the half. The Wildcats edged ahead for a four point lead with two minutes on the clock. Utah answered with a 5-0 run and ended the half with a made three ball by Matyson Wilke to take a 37-36 lead over Arizona. 

The Utes came out of the break with back-to-back threes, one by Jenna Johnson and the other by Alissa Pili. McQueen joined the party and hit her third from beyond the arc to give Utah a 9-0 run to start the half. Utah maintained that momentum to pull out for a 57-50 lead going into the final quarter of play. 

Arizona was able to cut the score deficit and tie the game 65-65 with two minutes left in the game. Both teams remained scoreless in the final two minutes forcing the game into overtime. 

In overtime, Arizona narrowly pushed ahead on the scoreboard for a 71-70 win over the Utes.
