Alliyah Richards (Ute/Lakota) Leads Haskell Volleyball with 23 Kills in Win over Friends University

Baldwin, Kansas – The Haskell Indian Nations University women’s volleyball team took on Friends University Friday morning and came away with a (3-2) win at the Baker Invitational.

The Lady Indians won their first match of the tournament with a (25-21, 22-25, 25-15, 17-25, 15-11) victory, moving them to 4-5 on the season.

Senior Middle Hitter Alliyah Richards (Ute/Lakota) led the Indians in scoring, recording 23 kills and four solo blocks for 27.0 total points. Fellow Senior Outside Hitter Cailey Lujan (Navajo) recorded 17 kills with three service aces and a solo block for 21.0 total points.

Junior Sophia Honahni (Navajo/Hopi) handled the work load in the back row recording 35 digs.

The Lady Indians are scheduled to take on Valley City State (N.D.) at 2:00 PM CST to round out today’s action and will return to the court tomorrow for Day 2 against Concordia (Neb.) at 11:00 AM and Ottawa (Kan.) at 5:00 PM CST.
