Ashlyn Wallace (Umatilla) Leads the Idaho Vandals with 14 points in Win over EWU

CHENEY, Wash. –  The Idaho Vandals (2-10, 1-2) snapped a 10-game losing skid with a 63-42 victory over host Eastern Washington (2-10, 0-3) Saturday afternoon.
 
Four Vandals scored in double-figures as they pulled away down the stretch to secure the 20-point win. Ashlyn Wallace (Umatilla) topped the score sheet for the Vandals with 14 points.  
 
Idaho jumped out to a quick 6-3 lead but went on a scoring drought that lasted nearly five minutes. Idaho regrouped and closed the opening quarter by connecting on four-straight from 3-point range, three from Wallace, to take an 18-12 lead after ten minutes of play.
 
That was just the spark the Vandals needed. As Idaho held off a pesky EWU team to take a five-point lead into the half.
 
The Vandals clamped down defensively in the third quarter, holding the Eagles to just three points and expanding the lead to 12.
 
For the game, the Vandals held EWU to just 23 percent from the floor. 20 points below their season average. Idaho had six total blocks.
