MORRIS, Minn. – The University of Minnesota Morris men’s basketball team had an easy time of it on Saturday in a 104-59 win over Martin Luther College. The Cougars set a new school record with 21 made three-pointers on the day, shooting an incredible 60 percent from behind the arc as they upped their record to 8-7 (3-2 UMAC) on the season.

Jarrett Kujava hit seven of the 21 triples for the Cougars and his first gave Minnesota Morris a 5-0 lead one minute in after Pal Dak started things off with a layup. Martin Luther got within two, 8-6, before an 11-0 run from the Cougars that featured three-balls from Dak, Blake Munson, and Kujava. The Knights then got the UMN Morris lead back into single-digits at 32-24 before Dak went on a personal 7-0 run and by halftime the margin had grown to 58-36.

Kujava started fast again in the second half with eight points in less than four minutes as the lead stretched to 67-40. Brian LaRoche, Jr. got in on the action with three treys in a span of three minutes midway through the half and Head Coach Paul Grove was able to utilize everyone on the roster as time ticked away. Thomas Tiernan – recently back from injury – made a pair of threes and LeRoy Staples-Fairbanks had three of his own. A Jack Behning layup pushed the Cougars over the century mark with more than two minutes remaining.

Dak shot 8-of-10 from the floor while tallying a game-high 28 points and six steals. Kujava finished the day with 24 points and six rebounds. LaRoche, Jr. had 14 points as the other Cougar player in double-figures. All 15 players on the roster saw at least five minutes of action in the contest.
