DENVER – January 6, 2017 – A 13-point second half scoring advantage led the Fort Lewis College women’s basketball team to 69-59 road win against Metropolitan State University, Denver Friday night, marking the Skyhawks seventh straight win.
FLC (12-2, 7-1 RMAC) trailed the Roadrunners after one half of action, 28-25, but came out of halftime to outscore MSU Denver by seven in the third quarter (20-13) and six in the fourth quarter (24-18).
The Skyhawks started the opening stanza with a bitter cold 9.1 percent shooting mark from the floor (1-of-11) but bounced back to finish the game making their final 17-of-35 field goals.
Briana Clah (Navajo) led all scorers with 20 points. Clah hit 4-of-11 field goals, three three-pointers and 9-of-10 free throws. She also added three dimes and three rebounds.
Alyssa Yocky notched a double-double with 16 points and 12 caroms. Seven of her points came from the free throw line and 10 of her rebounds came on the defensive end of the court.
Kayla Herrera rounded out the Skyhawks scoring in double figures with 14 points.
FLC was out-rebounded, 43-35, but held a 9-6 second chance points advantage, despite being out-rebounded 18-8 on the offensive glass.
The Skyhawks will play their fourth straight game Saturday at UCCS. Tip-off is at 5:30 p.m.
