Seniors CooXooEii Black (N. Arapaho) and Eric Jonas both scored in double figures in their final appearance at Reid Arena as Colorado College dominated Trinity University, 75-52, on Saturday afternoon.
Black posted his 11th double-double of the season leading all players with 20 points and 14 rebounds. This was also the 16th time that the forward has scored more than 20 points this season.
Jonas contributed with 10 points and five rebounds. Senior guard Nabeel Elabdeia produced five points, six rebounds and a pair of steals.
Black also became only the fourth player in Southern Collegiate Athletic Conference history to earn more than 1,500 points and 700 rebounds in his career.
Trinity held a 15-8 lead 4:30 into the first half on three-pointer by David Nickell, but a free throw by sophomore Isaac Zachem sparked an 8-0 run to give CC a 16-15 lead with 8:17 remaining.
Tied 22-22 with 2:58 left in the half, Colorado College used the remaining time to hold Trinity scoreless and take a 30-22 lead at halftime.
The home Tigers held Trinity to a season-low 26.3 field-goal percentage on 20-of-76 shooting, which was the fewest field goals made this season. Trinity was also held to six field goals from long range in 31 attempts for a season-low 19.4 three-point field-goal percentage.
Ben Haley hit a jumper with 12:46 left in the game to cut CC’s lead to 41-38, but Black struck back scoring eight points during a 12-6 run to extend the lead once more.
