Derek Willis (Arapaho) agrees to 1-year deal with the Detroit Pistons

Undrafted rookie forward Derek Willis (Arapaho/Pawnee/Creek) has agreed to a one-year deal with the Detroit Pistons, according to ESPN’s Chris Haynes.

Derek played in the NBA Summer league with Detroit and send out this tweet today:

 

 

Willis played all four years in the pro factory that is the University of Kentucky, picking up a major boost in minutes in his last two seasons at the school.

At 6-foot, 9-inches, the 22-year-old fits right in as a prototype shooting big man, who possesses decent athletic ability and defensive instincts.

Willis averaged 7.0 points, 5.4 rebounds, and 1.0 blocks per game in his last season with the Wildcats, while shooting 37.7 percent from deep in his senior year and 44.2 percent the prior season.

His 7-foot wingspan will allow him to play at either forward spot and stretch the floor with his shooting.
