Dominique Golightly (Kiowa) named Southland Conference Player of the Week for third time

FRISCO, Texas – A career afternoon and an efficient shooting performance earned women’s basketball senior Dominique Golightly (Kiowa Tribe of Oklahoma) her third Southland Conference Player of the Week on Monday. ACU earned a pair of dominant wins over Northwestern State and Lamar to build a new winning streak. It’s the fifth player of the week honor for ACU this season, joining Breanna Wright and Lexie Ducat.

Golightly was also named the Southland Player of the Week from College Sports Madness, listing players of the week from each conference every week.

Golightly’s Week by the Numbers

  • Golightly led ACU with 47 points in the two wins over Northwestern State and Lamar, the highest two-game stretch of her career.
  • The senior averaged 4.5 boards and added 3 assists.
  • Golightly shot 56% from the floor (16-29), and was feeling it from distance, hitting 10 of her 15 three-pointers.
  • The Chickasha, Okla. native scored a career-high 29 points in just 28 minutes in the dominant win over Northwestern State; the game was moved up 2.5 hours to 3 p.m. due to 5 inches of snow in Abilene.

ACU’s Week by the Numbers

  • The Wildcats picked up a Southland sweep of Northwestern State (84-69) and Lamar (75-49).
  • ACU won both games by a combined 41 points to get back to their winning ways.
  • The 2019-20 season marks the first-ever sweep over Lamar after ACU got their first ever road win in Beaumont in team history.
  • Head coach Julie Goodenough earned career win number 450 at Lamar.
