Florida Launch’s Lyle Thompson (Onondaga) named the Warrior Offensive Player of the Week

The first pick of the 2015 MLL Collegiate Draft has wasted no time in the professional ranks, as the Florida Launch’s Lyle Thompson was named the Warrior Offensive Player of the Week for Week 12. The Launch defeated the Charlotte Hounds in Week 12 19-9 for its second-consecutive victory.

In the biggest marginal-victory in Launch history, Thompson made his own mark in the record book with a team-record seven goals with one assist for a career-high eight points. In five games played Thompson now has 12 goals with nine assists for 21 points.

Thompson is no stranger to record breaking, as his collegiate career is filled with such accomplishments. Following his four years at Albany he left the NCAA as its all-time leading points leader, assist leader and the first ever repeat recipient of its most coveted award, the Tewaaraton Award.

It is the third week in a row that the Launch has been rewarded with a weekly honor, as Chris Mattes won the Face-Off Athlete of the Week following the Boston match in Week 10 and Connor Buczek earned Cascade Rookie of the Week honors after his outing versus New York in Week 11. It is the second Offensive POW for the Launch as current MLL goal leader Kieran McArdle got the nod following the Week 5 victory over Ohio.

The Launch now travels to Charlotte for the second leg of the Launch-Hounds series on Saturday, July 11 followed by a trip out west to take on the Denver Outlaws on Sunday, July 19. The Launch then close out is 2015 season at FAU Stadium on Saturday, July 25 during Fan Appreciation Night! Tickets can be purchased by clicking here or calling (561) 923-9067.
