by COLORADO SPRINGS – May 15, 2017 – Eight Fort Lewis College student-athletes were named to the 2017 Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference All-Academic Team, announced today by the conference office. Sydni Brandon, Emily Bryant, Anastashia George, Shanell Leekya, Jazmyne Reining, Erin Renner, Emily White and Carly Wilborn were each named to the Academic Honor Roll.
Sophomore thrower Shanell Leekya (Zuni Pueblo) threw the shot put, discus and javelin in all four meets this spring. Her toss of 28.28 meters in the discus at the CMU Maroon Classic was a career best throw, as was her mark of 32.17 meters in the javelin at the 2017 RMAC Championship meet.
Leekya has a 3.71 grade point average in Exercise Science.
