Sophomore Gabby Barker will enter the third and final round of the 2016 Lady Puerto Rico Classic in a tie for first place.
RIO GRANDE, Puerto Rico — The Texas Tech Lady Raider golf team carded a second round 300 (12-over) on a wet and rainy day two of the 2016 Lady Puerto Rico Classic, held at the Rio Mar CC River Course on Monday morning.
The second-round team score of 300 gives the Lady Raiders a total score of 583 to begin round three, six strokes behind No. 5 Georgia and 11 strokes behind No. 8 Arkansas.
Sophomore Gabby Barker (Shoshone/Paiute) maintained her strong play through day two of the three-day event carding a team-best 73 (1-over). Barker is currently tied with Arkansas’ Maria Fassi for first place at 139 (5-under), outpacing third place Bailey Tardy (Georgia) by one stroke.
Senior Sarah Brown, sophomore Lauren Mason and freshman Mami Yamamoto are tied for 19th place at 148 (4-over) heading into the final round of play, while freshmen Cara Barker and Emma Ballard rounded out the Lady Raider scorecard with a 158 and 161, respectively.
As a team, the Lady Raiders have combined for the third most birdies by any team competing in the event with 27 total.
