(Lac Cruces, NM) – Following two rounds of play at the NM State Invitational, the Grand Canyon University women’s golf team is in fifth place with a 36-hole score of seven-over 583. The Antelopes carded a four-over 292 in today’s round.
Idaho leads the 14-team field at five-under 571. The Vandals are currently six strokes ahead of host New Mexico State in second place. CSU Fullerton rounds out the top-three at five-over 581. Just two strokes separate the Lopes from third place, as Boise State is in fourth at six-over 582.
As a team, the Lopes are tied for second-most in birdies (27) and are sporting the fourth-best mark on Par 3 scoring (+2).
GCU’s Charlotte Jaengkit is tied for first after shooting an even-par 72 today. Jaengkit established school records for low round (66) and low round versus par (-6) in yesterday’s opening round. She is tied with BYU’s Lea Garner for the top spot among the tournament field.
Jaengkit leads all competitors with a four-under on Par 4 scoring and is tied for the second-most birdies with 10.
Kelcey Tate (Navajo) recorded a team-best two-under 70 today to currently stand in a tie for 14th place with a 36-hole score of one-over 145, moving up 26 spots from the first round. Tate is four strokes ahead of teammate Emily Kaye in 30th place.
Tate’s round of 70 today marked a career-best for the senior.
