Goodrich Named Finalist For Nacy Lieberman Award

LAWRENCE, Kan. – Kansas junior Angel Goodrich has been named one of eight finalists for the Nancy Lieberman Award, which honors the nation’s top collegiate point guard in Division I women’s basketball.

The criteria for the award are the floor leadership, play-making and ball-handling skills that personified Hall of Famer, Nancy Lieberman during her career. Sportswriters from across the country the final nominee list and will select three finalists and then one winner during the Final Four weekend, April 1-3.

Goodrich ranks second in the nation dishing 7.7 assists per game and is fourth in the Big 12 Conference with 2.8 steals per outing. Her 200 total assists on the season are eight shy of the KU single-season record. Earlier this season Goodrich set an Allen Fieldhouse record with 16 dimes versus Texas on Feb. 8.

The 5-foot-4 guard also adds 12.5 points and 3.7 rebounds per game and has scored in double-figures 19 times in 2011-12.

Other nominees on the list include Skylar Diggins (Notre Dame), Chelsea Gray (Duke), Bria Hartley (Connecticut), Lindsey Moore (Nebraska), Samantha Prahalis (Ohio State), Odyssey Sims (Baylor) and Haley Steed (BYU).
