Green Bay Sprint Past Titans for Exhibition Win; Tesha Buck (Sioux) Finishes Game with 8 Points for Phoenix

GREEN BAY, Wis. (GreenBayPhoenix.com) – Sophomore Mehryn Kraker (West Allis, Wis.) scored nine points during a 16-4 run to close the first half, and then added two baskets as the Green Bay women’s basketball team opened the second half with a 10-0 run and sprinted past visiting UW-Oshkosh 61-34 in exhibition action at the Kress Center on Thursday night.

Kraker finished the night with a game-high 15 points on 7-of-9 shooting from the field and added six rebounds, five steals and three assists. The redshirt sophomore’s stretch midway through the first half helped the Phoenix break out of a shooting slump and break open a 10-10 game.

The Phoenix made five of its first 15 shots from the field, but made 12-of-21 shots during the 26-4 spurt that spanned across both halves.

Defensively, the hosts were so strong that the offensive explosion may have proven unnecessary. The Division III powerhouse Titans made just 6-of-19 shots from the field and committed 17 turnovers in the first half as Green Bay led 26-14.

Sophomore Sam Terry (Baraboo, Wis.) again provided a spark off the Phoenix bench, scoring 12 points. Starters Tesha Buck (Mdewakanton Sioux) and Megan Lukan (Barrie, Ontario) each added eight points.

With two exhibition contests in the books, Green Bay turns its attention to the regular season opener at Marquette on Saturday, Nov. 15 in Milwaukee.
