Halifax Thunderbirds Sign Jakob Patterson (Seneca Nation) to One-Year Contract

HALIFAX, Nova Scotia (October 12, 2022) – The Halifax Thunderbirds announced they have signed forward Jakob Patterson (Seneca Nation) to a one-year deal.

Patterson was a prolific scorer at the University at Albany. In his five seasons playing attack for the Great Danes, Patterson regularly collected accolades, including America East All-Rookie Team honours in 2017, named to the America East All-Conference Second Team and All-Tournament Team in 2018, becoming the America East Offensive Player of the Year in 2019, and earning a spot on the America East First Team All-Conference and All-Championship Team.

“Jakob is a good-sized, athletic left-handed forward,” said Thunderbirds assistant general manager Scott Campbell. “We are very excited to see how he performs in camp and how he uses his athleticism to open space for others on the offensive end of the floor.”

The former 2x USA Lacrosse High School All-American out of Chandler, Ariz. recorded 174 points (109G, 65A), 84 ground balls, and 10 caused turnovers in his collegiate career.

In addition to his successes at the collegiate level, Patterson represented the Haudenosaunee Nationals at The World Games for Men’s Sixes. He finished second on the team in goals (10) and points (11) in four games.

Patterson was a member of the California Collegiate Box Lacrosse League Royals, who went on to win the 2021 NCBS National Championship.
