Lamoni, IA – The Haskell Indians Nations University Lady Indians moved to (9-1) on the season after traveling to Iowa and defeating the Graceland University Yellowjackets by a final score of 81-70 on Tuesday evening.

In the first half, the Yellowjackets kept close to Haskell for the first five minutes of the game by only trailing by one point with the scoring at (10-9). The Lady Indians after that point would take advantage of some poor shooting by Graceland and extend their lead in the first half by nine points after Jenine Coriz hit one of her five 3-pointers on the night at the (10:37) to take a (19-10) lead at that point. Graceland would close the gap to five points (27-22) at the (6:46) mark before the Indians would go on another run to lead as much as fifteen points before finishing the half with a eleven point 42-31 lead. Coriz would finish the half with 16 points and Haskell would dominate the stat categories as well with the best being the shooting percentage where Haskell shot 45% to Gracelands 30%.
The second half was a different story for Graceland. GU found its rhythm playing stride for stride with the Indians as both teams managed 39 points in the half. Haskell’s first half lead, however, was too much for the Jackets and Graceland fell by 11, 81-70.
In addition to Coriz’s 29 points, she also had a game high 5 steals and pulled down 6 rebounds for the Indians. Tinaya Murphy got into the double-digit scoring column for Haskell by adding 13 points of her own on the evening. She was followed by Keli Warrior who had 9 points and pulled down a game high 12 rebounds and Lynnail Curley who added 8 points for the Indians.
