Iroquois Nationals Defeat England 24-2 at 2012 Lacrosse World Championships

The Iroquois Nationals easily defeated the recently crowned European  Champions England by a final score of 24-2 on the second day of pool play. Team Iroquois entered the tournament with arguably the best goalie in the tournament in Warren Hill who hails from Six Nations, Ontario. Hill possesses all the tools to steal a game including wonderful shot stopping skills and an uncanny ability to clear the ball under severe pressure.

Up front Team Iroquois features offensive prodigies in Johnny Powless, who turned pro with the NLL Rochester Americans last year, Randy Statts and Lyle Thomson although it now appears that all three will play in the midfield rather than at attack.

The Nationals return to the 2012 LWC after being denied exit out of the country to compete at the 2012 Championships that were held in England.  The  Natioanls – who hail from upstate New York and Canada – have passports issued by the Haudenosaunee, a confederacy of six Iroquois nations.

They had been traveling with the documents for 20 years and expected to use them to fly from Kennedy Airport to Manchester, England.
