Jamilia Cosay (Apache/Navajo) tied an ACU single game record with five hits

Woodland, CA- ACU Softball jumped into GSAC action with a doubleheader against William Jessup on Friday.  The Firestorm dropped the first game before answering with a second game win.  Junior Jamilia Cosay (Apache/Navajo) was 6-9 on the day highlighted by a 5-5 performance in game two.

  • Four of the first five batters reached as ACU put up a three spot in the first inning
  • Single runs in the third and fifth gave the Firestorm a 5-0 lead head to the seventh
  • The Firestorm exploded for a six run seventh with the use of just one extra base hit- a double by Guzman
  • Porras (5-0) kept her shutout in tact even with allowing base runners in six of the seven innings

We struggled in game one with some mental base running mistakes and we did not pitch as well as we would like so those things put us behind.  It was nice to play our style of ball in game two and pitch, hit and run well.”
