Bellevue College men’s basketball came back in fine fashion with a 74-64 win tonight against Highline at Courter Family Athletic Pavilion. The ‘dogs were resilient both from their last game, a 78-50 drubbing by Lower Columbia, and from the first half of tonight’s game in which BC found themselves down 26-24 at halftime.
The Bulldogs exploded for 50 points in the second half. Down by as much as nine, BC charged back and took the lead at 47-46 on a three-ball from Logan Stempniak. The long ball was hot as Jeremiah Hersrud and Josiah Johnson made three-pointers and all of a sudden the Bulldogs were up 53-46, outscoring the T-Birds by 16 points in a five minute span. Hersrud tossed in 10 more points down the stretch to prevent any Highine comeback and to seal the win.
Hersrud ended up with 20 points, with 17 of them coming in the comeback second half on six-for-eight shooting from the field. The sophomore guard was also feisty on defense picking up two steals as well.
Bellevue closes out pre-season this Saturday and are 10-4; an impressive start with a relatively new squad and first-year Head Coach Marcus Fermon.
