Jordana Reisma (Winnebago) recorded her fifth 20-point game of the season with 21 Points for Cleveland State

MILWAUKEE, Wis. – The Cleveland State women’s basketball team returned home to host its annual Health + Hoops game Thursday, picking up a 72-55 victory over Detroit Mercy. With the win, the Vikings are now 19-5 overall and 10-3 in Horizon League play.

Jordana Reisma finished with a team-best 21 points, while Mickayla Perdue recorded 18 and Destiny Leo chipped in 13.

After holding a seven-point lead at the halftime break at 33-26, the Vikings were able to quickly extend their lead to double-digits over the opening minute of the third quarter, as a Mickayla Perdue layup followed by a Destiny Leo three-pointer put CSU up 38-26 just 38 seconds into the frame.

Although the Titans were able to trim the lead to single digits over the next few possessions, a pair of baskets from Sara Guerreiro and Macey Fegan put the Vikings back up by 13 at 44-31 midway through the quarter. Cleveland State then held a double-digit lead to close out the frame taking a 50-40 advantage into the final 10 minutes of play.

Cleveland State opened the final quarter on a 7-3 run to once again extend its lead at the 57-43 mark following a pair of Guerreiro free throws. After both teams then traded baskets over the next few possessions, back-to-back Leo three-pointers gave the Vikings a 68-50 edge, before a Perdue layup put the lead at 20 points at 70-50 with just 2:03 left on the clock.  

The Vikings were then able to control play over the final minutes of the contest, coming away with the 72-55 victory.
