Josie Hill (Sisseton-Wahpeton) Pulls Down 9 Rebounds and added 8 Points for Chicago State in her debut

The Chicago State women’s basketball team opened the 2022-23 season with an 84-57 loss at Butler on Wednesday, November 9 at Hinkle Fieldhouse in Indianapolis, Indiana. 

The Cougars led after the first quarter, 13-9, and trailed by just four at the half, 31-27, but the Bulldogs used a big third quarter leaving CSU to play catch up the rest of the way. Freshman Josie Hill (Sisseton-Wahpeton) scored six of Chicago State’s first eight points, hitting her first three shots while Tae’lor Willard led CSU with 12 points in the loss, which included a three-for-three effort from beyond the three-point arc. Hill also led all players with nine rebounds.  

Tonight’s game was the third all-time between the two teams with the Bulldogs holding a 2-0 advantage in the series. The two teams first played during the 1987-88 season with Butler earning a 50-45 win, then again during the 1990-91 season, an 86-64 Bulldogs victory.

Chicago State’s next game will be their home opener against UIC on Monday, November 14 at 5:30 p.m. as part of men’s doubleheader with the CSU men hosting IUPUI at 7 p.m.
