LAWTON – The Cameron softball program landed five student-athletes on the 2015 Daktronics All-South Central region team. Senior outfielder Tara Martini and junior utility pitcher Sonora Zukerman both garnered first team selections, while seniors Kelsey Watson and Lauren Renneker along with sophomore Paige Daino also were on the second team.
Martini was a repeat first team selection and is the only CU player to appear twice on a first team all-region list. During her senior season she knocked out 21 homers, with 63 RBI, and batted a team high .389 in 59 games. She ended her four-year career with 40 career homers and is tied all-time with 55 doubles, along setting the new bar in career RBI with 183.
Zukerman returned to the circle for the first time since her freshman season and won 13 games for the Aggies. At the plate she knocked out 11 homers and had 45 RBI; this will be Zukerman’s first all-region honor.
Watson (Comanche Nation of Oklahoma) spent her senior season with 19 wins and 181 strikeouts, which is second most in a season for a CU pitcher. In two seasons Cache, Okla. native won 35 games had 307 strikeouts and is second all-time in a career. Renneker spent one season with the Aggies but tied CU’s mark for homers in a year with 21 and had a team high 67 RBI, that total was three short of a program mark. Daino had a tremendous sophomore season with 20 homers and 61 RBI which are both near the program records. In two years, she already has 27 homers and 92 RBI, both totals are inside the top-10 all-time at Cameron.
