LITTLE ROCK, Ark. – Arkansas women’s basketball used an 11-0 run in overtime to come back from a 16-point deficit and take down Little Rock, 71-60, at the Jack Stephens Center.
The Razorbacks (2-1) went into the fourth quarter trailing by 11 points and outscored the Trojans 18-7 to force overtime. The program picked up its first overtime win since the 2021-22 season and held Little Rock (1-1) scoreless in the extra period.
Izzy Higginbottom opened overtime with a midrange jumper and proceeded to score nine of Arkansas’ 11 points with two field goals, a three-pointer and four free throws. She also assisted in the only basket not scored by her, a layup for Danika Galea. Higginbottom bested her previous Razorback high of 22 points with 24 on the night, all scored after halftime, and she went a perfect 11-11 from the charity stripe after a more she used aggressive approach to the basket.
Kiki Smith, a transfer from Hutchinson CC, added to her season total with 16 more points and helped the Hogs build the comeback with 13 second-half points. Smith netted four threes for the second straight game.
On the defensive side of the ball, Arkansas allowed a quick 7-0 scoring run to begin the game and Little Rock built on the run for the remainder of the half. After a regroup to discuss the defensive plan, the Razorbacks held the Trojans to seven points in the final 15 minutes of the game.
