Kobe Buffalomeat (Cheyenne/Choctaw) Added 18 Points for the Baker Wildcats who Fall in Conference Quarterfinals

CEDAR RAPIDS, Iowa – Snapping a seven game winning streak, the Wildcats fell to Mount Mercy on Thursday in the Heart of America Conference Tournament Quarterfinals by a score of 94-81.

Jalen Patterson went 10-for-17 from the field to score a team-high 26 points, while teammate Kobe Buffalomeat (Cheyenne/Choctaw) missed just two shots to score 18 points in 20 minutes of play. These two performances were not enough as Mount Mercy went 19-for-41 from the three-point line, while Baker went just 6-for-24.

It didn’t take long for the Mustangs to get going on Thursday as Baker fell behind early by a score of 17-6. With Just over six minutes left to go in the first half, Mount Mercy extended their lead to 20 points which would be their largest lead of the game.

For the final six minutes of the first half, Baker would work their way back into the game, cutting the lead to 12 heading into the locker room for halftime.

Just three minutes into the second half, Baker cut into the lead as Mount Mercy led by seven. With Mount Mercy up 64-57, Baker went on a run and a basket by Buffalomeat with 11:50 left in the game cut the lead to just three.

Baker didn’t stop there, scoring with 7:29 left in the game to cut the lead to one. Just like they had all game, the Mustangs responded with a huge three-pointer, pulling away one final time to defeat Baker, 94-81.

With the loss, Baker is now 14-10 on the season
