Kyarrah Grant (Navajo/MBCI) added 13 Points for Nova Southeastern University in 91-78 Win over AUM

MONTGOMERY, Ala. – Nova Southeastern University’s women’s basketball team defeated Auburn University at Montgomery 91-78. The Sharks concluded its road trip with a second consecutive win, going 2-0 in the Gulf South Conference – Sunshine State Conference Crossover Classic. NSU was led by a 30-point performance by forward Madison Frederick, as well as three double-digit scorers.
 
HOW IT HAPPENED
First Half – The first quarter was back-and-forth until the Sharks opened a 19-12 lead on a three-ball from Hailey Conley, sparking a run for NSU. The Warhawks stormed back in the second quarter, taking a 22-19 lead before scores by Frederick and Kyannah Grant regained the advantage for the Sharks 24-22. Frederick then took matters into her own hands, catching fire and scoring NSU’s next 14 points with four three-pointers and a layup. The Sharks wreaked havoc on the Warhawks’ offense, forcing its 6th turnover of the second quarter that led to a buzzer-beating three-ball from Conley. NSU ended the half on a 17-9 run and went into halftime with a 39-31 lead.
 
Second Half – The Sharks continued its momentum into the third quarter, grabbing three steals and scoring 11 consecutive points to put NSU up 50-31. Nova continued to draw fouls throughout the third quarter, scoring eight of its next 18 points at the stripe. Six different Sharks scored in the last eight minutes of the third, with Kyannah Grant (5), Kyarrah Grant (4), Sarei McGill (2), Emma Krause (1) and Alexus Bryant (1) contributing to the Sharks owning a 68-53 lead at the end of the third quarter. AUM started the fourth quarter off well, going on a 7-0 run to make the score 68-60, but Zeyno Seren took the momentum back for the Sharks. Seren had a tremendous 20 second-run for the Sharks, making two free throws, grabbing a steal and making a layup in 20 seconds that gave NSU  a 79-62 lead. NSU fended off multiple comeback attempts by AUM, and the Sharks won the game 91-78.
