FORT LAUDERDALE, Fla. – The #16 ranked Nova Southeastern women’s basketball team clinched at least a share of the Sunshine State regular season conference title with their victory over Florida Southern on Saturday afternoon from the Rick Case Arena. NSU’s win over the Mocs also extends their win streak to a program record 20 consecutive wins.
First Half – Six consecutive points from Nicole Scales and Aubrey Stupp kicked off the action for the Sharks. The Mocs answered with baskets of their own, tying the match at 8 apiece heading into the second quarter. Both teams traded baskets throughout most of the quarter before a 10-4 run featuring buckets from Zeyno Seren (7) and Kyarrah Grant (3) put the Sharks ahead 26-17 heading into the break.
Second Half – The Sharks blew open their lead as a jump shot from India Shepherd capped off an 18-4 Shark run, extending NSU’s lead to 25 as they headed into the final frame. The Sharks defense continued to pose problems for the Mocs in the fourth quarter, ultimately securing the 57-42 SSC victory over Florida Southern.
Zeyno Seren had a season-high 10 points.
The Sharks have now extended their win streak to 20 straight games.
NSU clinched at least a share of the Sunshine State regular season title for the first time since going back-to-back in the 2014-15, 2015-16 seasons.
