Miami Shores, Fla. – The Nova Southeastern Women’s Basketball team continues to add to the win column, taking down Barry and extending their win streak to seven games. NSU had four athletes in double figures, with Kyarrah Grant leading the way, pouring in a career-high of 21 points.
First Quarter – The Sharks jumped out to quick 8-0 run, featuring buckets from Kyannah Grant, Kyarrah Grant, and Mackenzie Steele. Barry answered and got within 5 towards the end of the quarter. Shortly after Madison Frederick knocked down a three-pointer and India Shepherd made a jump shot to give NSU a 10-point lead at the end of the first quarter.
Second Quarter – The Sharks picked up right where they left off, going on a 9-0 run which was capped off by a Hailey Conley layup, extending their lead to 27-9. NSU kept their foot on the gas pedal the rest of the quarter, taking a commanding 22-point lead heading into the break.
Third Quarter – The Bucs scored four quick points to start the second half, but a jump shot by Frederick stopped Barry’s early push. Midway through the quarter Kyarrah Grant converted back-to-back layups to bring the Sharks lead to 57-36. The Bucs managed to cut into the deficit, bringing the Shark lead to 15 heading into the final frame.
Fourth Quarter – The fourth quarter was a back-and-forth battle between both teams. Three minutes into the quarter, Barry got as close as 7 but NSU’s strong team effort was too much for the Bucs. With just under four minutes remaining in the game, Suzan Kinran knocked down a three-pointer which was ultimately the dagger, propelling the Sharks to victory. Nova Southeastern takes down Barry 78-69 in today’s SSC showdown.
