Kyia Monahwee (Mvskoke Creek) homered and had four hits in a 5-4 extra inning Northern Oklahoma College softball win over Eastern

WILBURTON, Oklahoma — Kyia Monahwee (Mvskoke Creek) homered and had four hits in a 5-4 extra inning Northern Oklahoma College softball win over Eastern on Tuesday.

Eastern gained revenge in Game 2 winning 3-1.

NOC (37-17) is now 19-11 in Region 2 play.  The Mavs are in 3rd place in the conference with their final home series this Sunday when the Mavs host NEO at 2 p.m.

Mavs 5, Eastern 4, 11 innings

Monahwee’s home run, her 15th of the season gave the Mavs a 5-4 extra inning win in Game 1.

Monahwee’s blast made a winner out of Taylor Lane (18-8) who relieved starter Jenna Chassie in the 6th.  The two NOC hurlers allowed four runs on eight hits over 11 innings.

The Mavs built an early 3-0 lead in the opening inning when Monahwee and Rachel Rumsey both singled home Maverick runs.  An Emily Poindextersacrifice also netted a Maverick run.

Rumsey had two hits and two runs batted in for the Mavs.

Eastern 3, Mavs 1

The Mavs were out hit 7-4 in Game 2 and lost to Eastern 3-1.

Emily Poindexter‘s rbi ground out scored Aylin Nunez for the Mavs only run.

Lane (18-9) pitched five innings allowing three runs on seven hits.
