TULSA, Okla. – The Oral Roberts University women’s basketball team held its first practice Monday morning in preparation for the 2015-16 season.
The Golden Eagles participated in their first practice with a two hour workout on the Mabee Center floor. Fourth-year Head Coach Misti Cussen was excited about the progress made during the offseason.
“We had lots of energy and a good tempo to today’s practice,” Cussen said. “There was a lot of energy on the floor and you could tell hard-work during the offseason has paid off. Today was a start to the season and hopefully we continue to build from here as we get ready for November 14.”
Lakota Beatty (Caddo/Lakota/Gros Ventre) joins the Golden Eagle squad after transferring from Oklahoma State. She will join her sister Ashely who will be playing her year of collegiate athletics.
ORU opens the season November 14 against the Evangel Crusaders from Springfield, Missouri. Last season the Golden Eagles finished 18-16 on the season and made a postseason run in the Women’s Basketball Invitational falling in the semifinals, 65-64, to Louisiana.
