TULSA, Okla. – Former Anadarko standout Lakota Beatty has joined the Oral Roberts University women’s basketball team, it was announced Wednesday. Beatty will sit out the 2015-16 season after transferring from Oklahoma State.
“We are very excited about Lakota joining our program,” said Head Coach Misti Cussen. “We are very familiar with the Beatty family having recruited her out of high school and with her sister Ashley joining us this fall. They come from a great family and will be an outstanding asset to our team.”
Beatty played in 24 games as a sophomore with eight starts for the Cowgirls. She averaged 2.8 points per game as a sophomore and was a 31 percent three-point shooter. The Anadarko native also saw action during OSU’s NCAA tournament games as a freshman and a sophomore.
She will re-join her sister, Ashley Beatty, who signed with the Golden Eagles in November and will be a freshman during the fall.
A highly decorated prep standout, Beatty was named the Gatorade Oklahoma Girls Basketball Player of the Year and Jim Thorpe Girls Basketball Player of the Year as she also earned PARADE All-America honors following her senior season. She was a McDonald’s All-American nominee and named an Oklahoma Super 5 first-team selection as a junior and a senior at Anadarko.
She averaged 20.1 points per game, 5.6 assists, 4.7 rebounds and 3.5 steals per game as a senior. She helped lead Anadarko to a 27-2 mark and the Class 4A semifinals while earning all-state honors as a senior. As a junior she helped the Warriors to a Class 4A OSSAA State Championship and was named MVP of the Tournament of Champions. She finished her high school career with 2,032 points.
