SAN DIEGO, Calif. – Behind a career-high 12 kills from freshman outside hitter Lauren Fuller, the 23rd-ranked University of San Diego women’s volleyball team picked up a 3-0 non-conference win over Dartmouth College Saturday afternoon at the Jenny Craig Pavilion.
With the 25-14, 25-22, 25-22 win, San Diego improves to 4-1 overall, while the Big Green fall to 0-3 on the young season.
Fuller recorded her match-best 12 kills on 23 swings, while only committing two attack errors, to hit for a .435 clip. The second of three Toreros in double figure kills was Lauren Schad, (Cheyenne River Sioux) who had 10 kills, while hitting for a .421 clip, and she added in six blocks. Merve Tanyel was the final USD player with double digit kills, as she had 10, while recording seven digs. Kristen Gengenbaucher had 24 assists, while Hunter Jennings anchored down the defense with 15 digs.
As a team, USD hit for a season-high .362 clip, while holding Dartmouth to a .173 clip. Dartmouth out blocked the Toreros 9-4.
For the Big Green, Paige Lau paced the offense with 10 kills, while also recording seven digs. Stacey Benton recorded a team-leading 22 assists, while Zoe Lenard paced the defense with 13 digs, and Allison Brady had four blocks.
