Lexy Keys (Cherokee) Added 16 Points for the Oklahoma State Cowgirls who outlast Texas Tech, 62-58

STILLWATER, Okla. — Oklahoma State’s women’s basketball team battled its way to its second consecutive victory on Saturday evening, holding off Texas Tech in a 62-58 win in front of 3,002 fans inside Gallagher-Iba Arena.

With the win, the Cowgirls have now won five in a row in the series against the Lady Raiders.

OSU got out of the gate slowly, hitting just three of its 15 shots from the floor in the first period. However, the Cowgirls found a way to end the period in a 12-12 tie.

The lead changed hands repeatedly in the second period before the Cowgirls used a 7-0 spurt to move in front 27-21. However Tech got a jumper at the buzzer to trim the margin to four at the break.

The Cowgirls opened the third with a trey from MIcah Dennis to lead by seven, but Tech countered on its next trip. OSU would build the lead back to seven, but the Lady Raiders would pull within one at 37-36 with three minutes left in the frame. OSU would extend the lead back to six, but Tech hit another buzzer beater, this one from beyond the 3-point line, to get within 43-40 heading into the final period.

OSU used a 5-0 run from Lexy Keys (Cherokee) to stretch the margin back to six and OSU would lead by eight after a Taylen Collins’ steal and layup with 3;36 to go. However, Tech scored five quick points to get within a possession with two minutes remaining and then whittled the margin back to one at 56-55 with one minute to go.

Lauren Fields provided a 3-pointer with 43 seconds left to give OSU a two-possession lead.

The Cowgirls led, 61-58, with four seconds left when Keys made a free throw to seal the victory.

Fields led the way for OSU with 20 points, while Keys added 16 and Dennis tallied a career-high 15 on the night.
